- Start-Up Business Class – Achacoso v. Canada, 2025 FC 876: The applicants’ PR and work permit applications under the Start-Up Visa Program were refused for missing DEO commitment certificates at filing. Although proof was later submitted, the Court found the applications moot as one essential team member’s refusal stood. Judicial review dismissed. Read more
- Inadmissibility – Chudchamnan v. Canada, 2025 FC 885: Thai applicant was refused a work permit and found inadmissible for misrepresentation after officers could not verify his claimed work history. Despite additional letters and photos submitted in response to a fairness letter, the Court found the officer’s concerns reasonable and the process fair. Judicial review dismissed. Read more
- Study Permit – Espano v. Canada, 2025 FC 892: Filipino applicant’s study permit for an Occupational Health and Safety program was refused. Officer was not satisfied with the evidence of her relationship with the financial sponsor or the rationale for the sponsorship, and found the program unrelated to her longstanding career in finance. Court found the concerns reasonable and the decision justified. Judicial review dismissed. Read more
- Humanitarian & Compassionate – Eweka v. Canada, 2025 FC 748: Nigerian applicant’s H&C was refused. Officer failed to consider her front-line shelter work during COVID-19, a key factor raised in submissions. Court found this omission rendered the decision unreasonable. Judicial review granted. - Post-Graduate Work Permit – Goyal v. Canada, 2025 FC 905: Indian applicant’s open work permit extension was refused for failing to identify the PGWP public policy or specify a requested duration. - Work Permit – Singh v. Canada, 2025 FC 887: Indian applicant’s farm worker permit was refused over concerns of weak ties and temporary intent. Court found the Officer failed to consider family and economic ties in India, including property and a dependent child. Judicial review granted. Read more
- Study Permit – Tahoonchitorghabeh v. Canada, 2025 FC 872: Iranian family’s study and open work permit applications were refused over concerns about temporary intent and family ties.
